Hang on a second while I dust off a word I seldom use. Here it is. Thrilled. I am thrilled to tell you about the Town House Restaurant, but, first, a little history. The Town House Restaurant used to be beside the Town House Motel. It was located near the busiest intersection in town, where Hillsboro crossed North West Avenue. Well, the motel closed years ago (at least I think it did, I'm not sure when) BUT, the restaurant remained open. It wasn't anything fancy, and that is part of what was so great about it, but, the other thing that was great about it was the food. The place was charming, affordable and had good food. Well, I'm not gonna' speculate on yelp as to why they had to move, but, some genius somewhere decided that they had to move so someone else could have their property. You know, that's how it works in America these days. Well, after a long wait, they have finally re-opened in their new location. And what a fantastic location it is - basically, it is now in a residential area. They bought a house and turned it into a restaurant. Its new location is on Griffith Street. Now, it's not big, mind you, but, it is still charming, affordable and the food is still great. In my opinion it's even more charming now. As of this writing there aren't many seats in the new place, but, it looks to me like they have a large enough property to expand their seating. I suspect they will in time. So now, what kind of food is it? Soul Food, Baby! Stuff like smothered steak, hominy, or sausage and cabbage and great greens - you get the picture. BUT, I'm not done yet! They are also well known for doing a great breakfast. If you are going to be in El Dorado for some odd reason, or even for a not so odd reason, you will be doing yourself a favor if you check out the Town House. Next time I go I'll try to remember to take some pics of the new place so I can share them. (Why not five stars? I don't know, I guess I'm just stingy about giving a perfect score to any restaurant. If it weren't for that, I'd give it five stars.)

I'm surprised nobody has rated this place. It has been in business for quite a few years. I'm going to rate the lunch/buffeteria part. They usually offer about 3 meat items per day along with a number of sides/salads. It is focused toward southern homestyle/soul food. They have fried/baked chicken, fried pork chops, beef tips, catfish, and a couple others I forget. The sides usually include greens, black eyed peas, beans, squash, and more. You really receive a big portion of food for the money. Their pies are also very good as well but I'm usually too stuffed to eat dessert. There is no sign for this on the street so either someone has to tell you where it is or you found it on yelp. It is an attached cafe of a motel.
